MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team opens Sun Belt Conference play at 10 a.m. Saturday vs. Troy at Heard Stadium and continues the weekend at 10 a.m. Sunday at South Alabama.
The Warhawks (3-5 overall) snapped a three-match losing streak with a 4-3 win over Central Arkansas last Saturday, as junior
Oleksandra Balaba battled back to take the third set and win the decisive point at No. 4 singles.

Hala Badwy and freshman
Alessandra Anghel picked up wins last week and No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively. Senior
Jimena Paula Garbino also won at No. 6 singles. Badwy moved to 5-3 in singles this spring, including a 3-2 mark at No. 1 singles. Anghel is 3-5 in singles play, but 2-3 at No. 2. Garbino moved back to .500 in her first match at No. 6.

Brianna Gomez fell at No. 3 singles and senior
Madalina Grigoriu lost at No. 5 singles last week. Gomez is 3-1 in singles play this spring, while Grigoriu dropped to 3-5.
The Warhawks lost the doubles point against UCA, as Balaba and Badwy lost at No. 1 doubles and Garbino and Gomez lost at No. 3. Anghel and sophomore
Daniela Hernandez did not finish their match at No. 2. ULM has won six doubles matches this spring.
Troy enters Saturday's match at 5-6 in the dual season. They picked up a 4-1 win over Jacksonville State in their last outing on March 4. The Trojans have also knocked off North Alabama, 4-3, Alabama A&M, 6-1, Florida A&M, 6-1, and Alabama State, 5-2.
South Alabama is 9-2 overall and defeated South Florida, 4-3, on March 5. They have earned wins over UAB, Samford, Nicholls, Alabama State, Southeastern, Xavier (La.), West Alabama and New Orleans.
