ULM Tennis Winning Streak Snapped by Georgia Southern, 4-2

STATESBORO, Ga. – The ULM tennis team opened its Sun Belt Conference weekend road swing with a 4-2 loss at Georgia Southern on Saturday, March 26, ending a two-match winning streak.
 
The Eagles secured the doubles point with consecutive wins at the No. 3 and No. 1 positions. The No. 3 combination of Hannah Daniel and Sophie Wagemaker defeated ULM's Hala Badwy and Daniela Hernandez, 6-3, and the No. 1 team of Elizabeth Goines and Sonja Keranen beat Madalina Grigoriu and Giovanna Pereira, 6-4.
 
ULM (6-7, 3-2 Sun Belt) evened the match at 1-1 as Grigoriu opened singles play with a straight-sets victory over Goines on court five, 6-1, 6-2. Oleksandra Balaba gave the Warhawks a 2-1 lead with a straight-sets win over Wagemaker on court three, 6-1, 6-4.
 
Georgia Southern (7-7, 1-3) reeled off three-straight singles wins to claim the match. On court one, Silvia Martinez defeated Badwy, 6-4, 6-2, and Paula Hijos outlasted Alessandra Anghel in three sets on court two, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, as the Eagles regained the lead at 3-2. Keranen clinched the match for Georgia Southern on court four with a dramatic three-set win over Jimena Garbino, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5.
 
The Warhawks conclude their Sun Belt road swing at Georgia State on Sunday, March 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
