ULM Tennis Falls to Coastal in Sun Belt Championship Quarterfinals, 4-0

PEACHTREE CITY, Georgia – The ULM tennis team concluded its 2022 season, falling to No. 4-seeded Coastal Carolina, 4-0, Friday morning in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
 
Coastal Carolina (13-8) won the first doubles match of the morning on court one as the All-Sun Belt First-Team combination of Victorie De Samucewicz and Jesse Hollins defeated ULM's tandem of Madalina Grigoriu and Giovanna Pereira, 6-1. The No. 5-seeded Warhawks (7-12) countered on court three as Brianna Gomez and Oleksandra Balaba posted a 6-3 victory over Paola Landin Lopez and Isabella Weatherhead. Coastal secured the doubles point on court two as Anna Babayan and Megan Hopton outlasted Daniela Hernandez and Hala Badwy, 6-4.
 
The Chants closed out the match by winning three consecutive singles matches in straight sets. Coastal took a 2-0 lead as De Samucewicz produced a 6-4, 6-0 win over Badwy on court one. Hollins followed with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Grigoriu at the No. 6 positions, and Hopton secured the clinching point with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Jimena Paula Garbino on court five.
