OXFORD, Miss. – ULM's
Bailey Couch leads the men's decathlon after five events, while five other Warhawks had Top-10 placings on the first day of the Joe Walker Invitational at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex.
Couch had three first-place showings in five events in the decathlon on Friday, winning the 100 meters in 11.17 seconds, the long jump with a distance of 21-2 ¾ and the 400 meters in 53.08. He was second in the shot put at 34-2 1/4 and third in the high jump, clearing 5-8 1/2. He has 3,280 points, 16 points ahead of Little Rock's Ethan Sorrels.
ULM placed three women's long jumpers inside the Top 5.
Rebekka Schubert was third at 18-5 3/4, while
Nasya Ramirez was fourth at 17-11 and
Olaia Becerril Alvarez was fifth at 17-10 3/4.
On the men's side,
Cole McKnight was third in the javelin with a heave of 217-9, while
Cole Burgess was eighth in the pole vault, clearing 15-1 3/4.
