CHOUDRANT, La. – The ULM men's golf team finished Monday's second round in fourth place, nine shots off the lead of Southern Miss, at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Country Club.
The Warhawks cooled off from their hot start on Sunday. After shooting 14-under-par 274 on Sunday, ULM finished at 1-over-par 289 on Monday, falling to fourth place at 13-under-par 563. Southern Miss shot 12-under-par 276 on Monday and is 22-under-par 554 through 36 holes.
Otto Van Buynder and
Theis Poulsen lead the way for ULM at 4-under-par 140, good for a tie for 14th.
Mikkel Schmitt and
Melan Dhaubhadel are tied for 41st at 1-under-par 143, while
Jacob Agerschou is tied for 58th at 1-over-par 145.
Missouri State's Max Kreikemeier and Southern Miss' Thongpipat Rattanayanon are tied for the individual lead at 9-under-par 135.
Van Buynder led ULM with a 2-under-par 70 to move to 4-under-par 140 (70-70) for the tournament. Starting on the 10th tee, he birdied the par-3 12th, par-4 first and par-5 second while adding an eagle on the par-5 17th. He had 11 pars in his round.
Poulsen shot even-par 72 to move to 4-under-par 140 (68-72). He birdied the 12th, par-4 15th, first and par-5 ninth to go with 11 pars.
Schmitt shot even-par 72 on Monday to move to 1-under-par 143 (71-72). He birdied the par-5 11th, par-4 13th, par-4 14th, par-4 eighth and ninth while knocking down nine pars.
Dhaubhadel fell back to 1-under-par 143 (66-77) with a round of 5-over-par 77. He had two birdies, coming on the 17th and eighth holes. He added 11 pars.
Agerschou was included in Monday's team score at 3-over-par 75 to move to 1-over-par 145 (70-75). He also birdied the 17th and eighth holes and drained 11 pars.
The Warhawks tee off in the final round on the first hole at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.
