NATCHITOCHES, La. – The ULM doubles team of
Oleksandra Balaba and
Giovanna Pereira won a doubles draw, highlighting the second and final day of action at the Lady Demon Collegiate Invitational.
Balaba and Pereira knocked off Northwestern State's Wise and Garcia, 6-2, to take the Purple Doubles Draw. The duo also defeated Southern Miss' Ricardo and Richter, 7-6 (4) in the semifinals.
In the Black Doubles Draw,
Alice Klinteby and
Tamara Bachmann defeated ULM's
Mackenzie King and the Ragin' Cajuns' Monayer, 6-2, before falling to the Cajuns' Raquin and Berrat, 6-1. King and Monayer lost to NSU's Szczygielska and Ishibashi, 6-3.
In the Purple Singles Draw, Klinteby lost the final to Northwestern State's Ayu Ishibashi, 6-1, 6-4.
In the Black Singles Draw, Balaba lost to Stephen F. Austin's Zala Ule, 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.
In the Orange Singles Draw, Pereira defeated Tyler Junior College's Yeva Kononovych, 6-1, 6-1.
In the White Singles Draw, Bachmann lost to New Orleans' Laurie Barendise, 6-3, 6-1.
The Warhawks are off until the ITA Women's Southern Regional Championship at LSU on Oct. 13-18.
