MONROE, La. – The ULM cross country teams open the 2022 season Friday at The Opener at Mississippi College. The women's 5K starts at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 6.
On the women's side,
Emily Allen,
Eliana Battle,
Kimone Campbell,
Jalynn Lozano,
Sohalia Schoen and
Berna Tizapa-Robles all return, while
Katie Byrd,
Ansley Long,
Anna Naff and
Paula Vaquera Cervantes join the squad. Among the returners, Battle has the top 5K time, running 18:56 at the ULM Warhawk Invitational on Oct. 2, 2020. ULM was picked to finish seventh in the Sun Belt Conference preseason coaches' poll.
On the men's side,
Juwan Blignaut,
Teddy Gowen,
Reid Guirlando,
Kolton Kelley,
Brayden Ortiz and
Rojs Puks all return while
Madison Langley and
Jay Parker are the only newcomers. Ortiz has the best previous 5K time, running in 16:39.1 at the Central Arkansas Cross Country Challenge on Sept. 12, 2020.
