FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Three ULM women's cross country runners set personal best times, while two men's runners completed the 8K course Friday at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival, hosted by Arkansas, at Agri Park.

The women placed 25th as a team in the Women's College 5K with 688 points. Host Arkansas picked up the win with 27 points. The men did not record a team score.

"We didn't execute the game plan today as a team," ULM cross country coach David Silversmith said. "Paula, Anna and Ansley stepped up and ran cross country personal bests, which was a positive for the women, but we still have work to do. The results on the men's side are unacceptable. Preparing the teams for competition is my responsibility, and I clearly need to be better. We will get this figured out by the Sun Belt Conference Championship."

In the women's 5K, Paula Vaquera Cervantes led the way in 29th place, finishing in a personal-best time of 17:27.7. Kimone Campbell was 177th in 19:14.9. Eliana Battle followed closely behind in 184th in 19:21.8. Jalynn Lozano was fourth for the Warhawks, placing 206th in 19:33.7. Anna Naff followed immediately behind Lozano with a personal-best showing of 19:35.1 to round out the team scoring.

Ansley Long also competed for ULM, placing 218th with a personal-best time of 19:48.3.

On the men's side, Juwan Blignaut was 225th in the 8K race in 26:37.4. Jay Parker was 327th in 29:18.3.

The Warhawks have one more tune-up before the SBC Championship, competing at Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invitational on Oct. 15.
