LSU Sweeps Sunday Tennis Doubleheader from ULM

BATON ROUGE, La. – The ULM tennis team opened the spring portion of the schedule with a pair of 4-0 losses at LSU on Sunday.
 
In the first dual of the day, LSU took the doubles point as Nina Geissler and Mia Rabionwitz defeated Mackenzie King and Angela del Campo, 6-2, at the No. 3 doubles spot and Anastasiya Komar and Nikita Vishwase defeated Alice Klinteby and Alessandra Anghel, 6-2, in the No. 1 doubles spot.
 
In singles play, Rabinowitz extended LSU's lead to 2-0 with a win in No. 6 singles over King, 6-0, 6-0. Safiya Carrington pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1, win against Oleksandra Balaba at No. 2 singles. The Tigers clinched the dual at the No. 5 position, where Vishwase defeated Tamara Bachmann, 6-0, 6-1, to take the 4-0 victory.
 
In the second dual, LSU again swept doubles play to take a 1-0 lead. Carrington and Maggie Cubitt defeated Klinteby and Bachmann at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, and Komar and Vishwase defeated Anghel and Balaba, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles for the 1-0 lead.
 
In singles action, Rabinowitz defeated King, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles. Carrington downed Anghel, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. Komar clinched the match at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-3, win over Balaba.
 
ULM continues the dual season with its home opener at 2 p.m. Friday against Missouri State at Heard Stadium.
