RUSTON, La. – For the second time this season, ULM's men's and women's cross country teams both placed first at a meet. The Warhawks swept through the Mook 4 Invitational at Louisiana Tech Saturday morning.
Both teams also finished first at the Warhawk XC Festival in September.
The Women's team led off by taking the top five spots in the women's 5k. Senior
Kimone Campbell placed first with a time of 18:17.5. Junior
Eliana Battle took second in 18:17:71, and Junior
Ansley Long finished right behind her in 18:17.75 to finish third. Sophomore
Anna Naff finished fourth, and Junior
Sohalia Schoen took fifth. Junior
Jalynn Lozano placed seventh.
The men's team followed by taking the top six spots in the men's 7k. Freshman Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo took first place with a time of 23:18.9. Senior
Rojs Puks took second in 23:19.0. Junior
Brayden Ortiz finished third in 23:19.2, and freshman
Chase Gunn took fourth in 23:19.3. Two juniors,
Teddy Gowen and
Juwan Blignaut, rounded out the top six.
The Warhawks travel to the Crimson Classic next Friday, Oct. 13, at Alabama. It's the last invitational before the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Saturday, October 28.
