LAREDO, Texas – The ULM men's golf team is in seventh place late in the second round of the Border Olympics after play was suspended due to darkness at Laredo Country Club on Monday.
The Warhawks have completed the second round, and are in seventh place at 12-over-par 588 (289-299). No. 30 Baylor also has completed the second round and leads the field at 13-under-par 563 (283-280), 16 shots ahead of second-place Coastal Carolina , which is at 3-over-par as a team but still needs to complete the second round on Tuesday morning.
Theis Poulsen and
Otto Van Buynder are tied for the team lead at 1-over-par, good for a tie for 14th overall.
Poulsen shot 1-over-par 145 (71-74) on Monday. In his opening round, he started on the 10th hole and collected birdies on the par-5 13th, par-5 17th, par-5 first, par-3 seventh and par-5 ninth holes. He had 10 pars. In the second round, he birdied the par-4 15th, par-4 16th and seventh holes and had 11 pars.
Van Buynder shot 2-under-par 70 in the first round and added a 3-over-par 75 in the second round to finish at 1-over-par 145. In the opening round, he opened and closed the round strong. He birdied five of his first six holes, starting with the par-4 11th and adding the 13th, par-3 14th, 15th and 16th holes. After falling back to par, he birdied two of the last three holes, picking up red numbers on the par-4 eighth and ninth holes. He had nine pars on the round. In the second round, he had birdies on the par-4 18th, par-4 fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth holes and had five pars.
Hayes Hamilton is tied for 32nd at 4-over-par 148 (73-75). In his first round as a Warhawk, he opened on the 11th hole and earned a birdie on the 17th while picking up 15 pars. He birdied the 16th, 18th and first holes in the second round and sunk 10 pars.
Melan Dhaubhadel is tied for 40th at 6-over-par 150 (75-75). He birdied the first and seventh holes with 11 pars in the first round, while adding birdies on the par-4 sixth and eighth holes with 12 pars in the second round.
Jacob Agerschou is tied for 69th at 10-over-par 154 (76-78). In the opening round, he started on the 12th hole and birdied the 16th, par-4 fourth, sixth and 11th holes and had seven pars. In the second round, he birdied the 15th and ninth holes and tallied 11 pars.
