HCU Husky Invitational Live Scoring

SUGAR LAND, Texas –
After a record-setting performance in its last tournament appearance, the ULM women's golf team resumes its 2023 spring schedule March 13-14 at the HCU Husky Invitational, hosted by Houston Christian University. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the par-72, 5,937-yard Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.

ULM shot a school-record 10-under-par 278 in the third round of the GCU Invitational on Feb. 28 en route to winning the team title by 13 strokes, finishing at 19-under 845. The Warhawks also shattered both the school and tournament records for the lowest 54-hole total.

Thanks to its GCU Invitational Championship, ULM has vaulted 16 places to No. 98 in the latest Golfstat rankings of NCAA Division I women's programs. It marks the first time in program history that the Warhawks are ranked inside Golfstat's Top 100. ULM defeated five teams in the GCU Invitational field that were ranked among the Top 125, including No. 104 Delaware, No. 107 UTEP, No. 117 GCU, No. 118 Seattle and No. 121 Northern Arizona.

It also marked the second tournament title of the 2022-23 season for the Warhawks, which placed atop the leaderboard at The Judson with a 6-over 870 late last fall. ULM is seeking its eighth consecutive Top 10 finish of the season.

The 15-team field features five programs currently ranked among Golfstat's Top 125, including No. 51 Sam Houston, No. 98 ULM, No. 109 UTEP, No. 117 Charleston Southern and No. 122 HCU. Other participants in the HCU Husky Invitational field include App State, Bradley, Illinois State, Lamar, Omaha, Tarleton State, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, UT Arlington and UTRGV.

ULM head coach Rachel Pollock's lineup card includes junior Alessia Mengoni, senior Chantal Dueringer, freshman Anna Andrysova, freshman Johanna Sjursen and sophomore Sara Hagglund.

Mengoni fired a 6-under-par 66 in the third round to climb four spots into a three-way tie for first place at 8-under 208 (69-73-66) at the GCU Invitational. Her 66 tied the second-lowest round in program history and her 54-hole total tied the school record, shared by Alison Knowles who shot a 208 in the 2013 Lady Red Wolf Classic. Mengoni recorded eight birdies in the final round, including six on the front nine (second, third, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth holes), and managed eight pars. Her 16 birdies led the 95-player field and she also posted 31 pars.

A native of Rome, Italy, Mengoni has placed in the Top 5 in two of her last three tournaments, finishing tied for second at even-par 216 (74-71-71) at The Judson last fall. She ranks third on the team with 64 birdies and fourth in scoring average at 74.0 over 21 rounds. Mengoni has carded three rounds in the 60s this season.

Dueringer leads the Warhawks in scoring average (72.57), birdies (67), eagles (4), par-4 scoring (4.01) and par-5 scoring (4.92). She has posted seven rounds in the 60s this season. Dueringer, who finished one shot behind the GCU Invitational leaders in fourth place, fired a 3-under 69 in the final round for a 54-hole score of 7-under 209. It marked her fourth Top 10 finish in seven tournaments this season. Her top finish came in the Little Rock Classic last fall, finishing tied for third at 1-under 215 (74-73-68).

Andrysova leads the team in par-3 scoring (3.08) while ranking second in scoring average (72.86) and fourth in birdies (62). She recorded her team-leading fifth Top 10 performance in seven tournaments after carding a 2-over 74 in the third round to finish tied for eighth at 3-under 213 at the GCU Invitational. Andrysova tied Mengoni for second place at even-par 216 (74-75-67) in The Judson last fall.

Sjursen was ULM's biggest mover in the final round at the GCU Invitational, advancing 12 places on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 19th at 3-over 219. It marked her second-straight Top 20 finish of the season and fourth overall in seven tournaments. Sjursen ranks second on the team in birdies (66), eagles (3), par-3 scoring (3.15) and par-5 scoring (4.94). Her 73.81 scoring average ranks third on the team. Sjursen has completed two rounds in the 60s, including a first-round 66 at the Lady Red Wolves Classic and third-round 67 at the Little Rock Golf Classic last fall. Her best finish of the year came in the Remax Prime Properties last fall where she tied for 12th at 11-over 224 (79-75-70).

Hagglund, who is making her sixth tournament appearance of the season, has posted a scoring average of 77.20 through 15 rounds. Her top finish came at the Little Rock Golf Classic last fall where she tied for 28th at 9-over 225 (74-71-80). Hagglund matched that score of 9-over 225 at the GCU Invitational, tying for 46th place.

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, March 13, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The second round will begin 30 minutes after the completion of the first round. The third round of the HCU Husky Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday, March 14, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
