ULM Track & Field Begins Outdoor Season in Lafayette

MONROE, La. – The ULM men's and women's track & field teams open the outdoor season Friday and Saturday at the Louisiana Classics at Lafayette.
 
ULM will compete against fellow in-state schools Dillard, McNeese, New Orleans, Nicholls, Southeastern, Tulane, Xavier (La.) and the host Ragin' Cajuns as well as Lamar.
 
Events begin for ULM with the women's 5000 meters at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Field events start with the javelin and discus at 9 a.m. Saturday while track events begin at 1 p.m.
 
Among the competitors for ULM's women's team are Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi in the triple jump and the long jump, after she was Second-Team All-Sun Belt Conference in the triple jump in the indoor season. Kimone Campbell is set to compete in the 800 meters and 1500 after finishing as part of the First-Team All-SBC distance medley relay and was fourth in the SBC in the 800 in the indoor season. Amanda Radava also was part of the distance medley relay and also will compete in the 800. Brittney Roberson also ran in the relay and is scheduled to run in the 100, 200 and 400. The final member of the relay, Paula Vaquera Cervantes, will compete in the 800 and 1500. Ainsley Hamsher is set to compete in the pole vault after finishing fourth in the SBC indoor meet.
 
On the men's side, Joseph McEvoy opens the outdoor season by competing in the 100, javelin, long jump and shot put after making Third-Team All-SBC in the indoor season in the pentathlon. Jakob Fudge will participate in the weight throw after finishing Third-Team All-SBC in the weight throw. Jordan Hollis is scheduled for the 100, 200 and 400 after taking fourth at the SBC indoor meet in the 400.
