Bama Beach Bash [Final Results]

GULF SHORES, Ala. – ULM women's golf claimed both the team and individual titles at the Bama Beach Bash on Tuesday, March 21 as the Warhawks fired their lowest round of the tournament, a 2-under-par 286, and finished at 15-over 879 while Chantal Dueringer carded a 1-under 71 in the third round to take medalist honors at 5-under 211.

The Warhawks finished atop the leaderboard, 23 shots ahead of second-place Colorado State (312-301-289 – 902; +38), which entered the Bama Beach Bash ranked No. 77 among NCAA Division I women's programs, according to Golfstat. With its third tournament title of the 2022-23 season, ULM climbed eight places to No. 89 in the updated Golfstat rankings – its highest position in program history. The three tournament championships are the second-highest single-season total in school history, trailing only the 2013-14 Warhawks who won four titles.

"I'm really proud of our team because it took a total team effort to win this event," ULM head coach Rachel Pollock said. "The first two days – and even the wind this morning – were some of the hardest conditions we played in all year. I think the HCU event earlier this month taught us how to control ball flight and shots in really difficult weather conditions."

A native of Bregenz, Austria, Dueringer won her first career championship while recording her fifth Top-10 finish of the season. The 211 marked the third-lowest 54-hole total of her career and tied for the fifth-lowest score in program history. She shot an even-par 36 on the front nine Tuesday, with two birdies (first and ninth holes) and six pars, and followed with a 1-under 35 on the back nine with two more birdies (10th and 14th holes) and six pars. Dueringer paced the field in par-4 (3.92/-2) and par-5 scoring (4.73/-4). Her 54-hole totals featured 10 birdies and a team-leading 37 pars.

"Chantal's win was huge, especially getting her first college win," Pollock said. "It's definitely been a long time coming for her. It's unbelievable how patient she stayed and the quality of golf she played this week.

"It's fantastic to have three players finish in the Top 10. It speaks to the caliber of golfers we have in our program, and I'm really excited to see what the rest of the season has in store."

Two more Warhawks finished inside the Top 10, with Johanna Sjursen tying for fifth place at 7-over 223 and Anna Andrysova tying for eighth at 8-over 224.

Thanks to her third-round 1-under 71, Sjursen advanced eight spots on the individual leaderboard for her first career Top-10 finish. She opened the final round with seven consecutive pars and added a birdie at the ninth hole for an even-par 36 on the front nine. Sjursen delivered three birdies (12th, 13th and 18th) to go along with four pars on the back nine. Her 54-hole totals include seven birdies and 34 pars.

Andrysova also fired a 1-under 71 in the final round and vaulted 10 places in the individual standings. It marked her second-straight Top-10 finish and her team-leading sixth of the season. She tallied three birdies (second, fourth and ninth holes) and three pars en route to even-par 36 on the front nine and managed two more birdies (13th and 16th holes) and six pars on the back nine for a 1-under 35. Andrysova's 12 birdies led the 81-player field, and she collected 25 pars.

Sara Hagglund, who shot a 7-over 79 in the third round, posted her first career Top-20 finish, tying for 15th place at 11-over 227. She notched two birdies (11th and 15th holes) to go along with nine pars over the final 18 holes. Her 54-hole totals included seven birdies and 33 pars.

Alessia Mengoni was ULM's biggest mover on the individual leaderboard Tuesday, ascending 13 spots into a three-way tie for 37th place at 17-over 233. Mengoni came through with her lowest score of the tournament with a 1-over 73 in the final round. She closed out the front nine with seven consecutive pars for a 2-over 38 and opened the back nine with back-to-back birdies at 10th and 11th holes, followed by four pars before producing her third birdie at the 18th hole for a 1-under 35. Mengoni's 54-hole totals included five birdies and 32 pars.

As a team, ULM led the 15-team field in birdies (41) and par-4 scoring (4.18/+22). The Warhawks also combined to amass 159 pars.

The Warhawks conclude their regular season schedule by playing host to the ULM Invitational on April 3-4 at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana.

"It's important to take the momentum from our last three tournaments (first place at GCU Invitational, second at HCU Husky Invitational and first at Bama Beach Bash) into our home event at Bayou DeSiard on April 3-4," Pollock said.
