MONROE, La. – ULM sophomore high jumper
Ali Eren Unlu has been named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year following a vote of the conference's head coaches. He also was selected to the SBC Men's Indoor All-Conference First Team.
ULM also had 10 individuals selected to the All-Conference teams across seven events.
A native of Istanbul, Turkey, Unlu won the Sun Belt Conference Indoor high jump championship, clearing a personal-best and indoor school-record 7-3 (2.21 meters), winning the event by 3 1/2 inches (0.09 meters). He has cleared at least 7-0 1/2 in every indoor meet this season, winning four of his five meets and finishing second in the remaining meet.
Unlu is the first Warhawk track & field athlete to be selected to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships since Alton Clay finished as national runner-up in the weight throw in 2018.
Unlu is seeded 10th going into the National Championships. He is scheduled to compete at 2 p.m. CST/1 p.m. MST Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Paula Vaquera Cervantes was selected to the SBC Women's Indoor All-Conference First Team after winning the DMR in 11:49.82 at the SBC Championships.
Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi was a Second-Team selection after finishing runner-up in the triple jump at 42-0 1/2 (12.81 meters) and
Claudine Raud-Gumiel was a Third-Team choice after finishing third in the pentathlon with a school-record 3,791 points.
In addition to Unlu on the men's side,
Jay Louison-Roe,
Jakob Fudge and
Joseph McEvoy were selected to the Third Team. Louison-Roe was third at the SBC Championships in the triple jump at 48-9 (14.86 meters), Fudge was third in the weight throw at 60-5 3/4 (18.43) and McEvoy was third in the heptathlon at 5,136 points.
