AUSTIN, Texas – Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi twice topped 44 feet in the triple jump, a new personal best, and picked up another victory while
Olaia Becerril Alvarez won a pair of long jump competitions while as the ULM men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational at Texas State Thursday through Saturday.
Mbuyi had a personal-best jump of 44-7.5 (13.60 meters) to place fourth in triple jump in Section A at the Texas Relays, and is one of just five women in NCAA Division I to top 44 feet in the outdoor season. She won the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos with a jump of 44-3.75 (13.51 meters) to best 44 feet for the second time.
Alvarez won Section B of the long jump at the Texas Relays with a jump of 20-2.25 (6.15 meters). She then set a personal-best at 20-8.75 (6.32 meters) to win Section A of the long jump at the Bobcat Invitational at Texas State.
Also for the ULM women,
Claudine Raud-Gumiel was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 13.83 seconds and eighth in the high jump (5-5.25, 1.66 meters) at the Bobcat Invitational.
For the ULM men's team,
Ali Eren Unlu was third in Section B of the high jump at the Texas Relays, clearing 7-1.5 (2.17 meters).
Joseph McEvoy was seventh in Section B of the long jump (22-10, 6.96) at the Bobcat Invitational and
Bailey Couch was eighth in Section A of the javelin (184-11.25, 56.37) at the Bobcat Invitational.
The Warhawks are scheduled to send athletes in the heptathlon and decathlon to the Joe Walker Invite at Ole Miss on Friday and Saturday, with the entire team returning to action on April 15 at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational in Natchitoches.
