COLUBMIA, Mo. – The ULM men's golf team is in eighth place at 2-under-par 574 after the first two round of the Tiger Collegiate Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The Warhawks shot 6-under-par 282 in the first round and 4-over-par 292 in the second round. No. 5 Illinois cruised to the lead at 46-under-par 530 (269-261), while host Missouri is in second at 31-under-par 545 (270-275). Illinois' Jackson Buchanan leads all individuals at 16-under-par 128 (66-62).
Otto Van Buynder leads ULM in a tie for 18th, after shooting 1-under-par 71 in the first round and four-under-par 68 in the second round to sit at 5-under-par 139. Starting on the seventh hole, Van Buynder had four birdies in the first round, coming on the par-5 10th, par-4 14th, par-4 18th and par-4 third while adding 11 pars. In the second round, he had six red numbers with birdies on the par-5 ninth, 10th, par-3 12th, par-3 second, third and par-4 fifth holes and had 11 pars.
Mikkel Schmitt is tied for 40th after firing a 2-under-par 70 in the first round and 2-over-par 74 in the second round for even-par 144. Starting on the 10th hole, he birdied the par-3 16th, second, third and fifth holes with 12 pars in the first round. In the second round, he birdied the par-4 11th, par-4 13th, second, and par-4 eighth holes and had eight pars.
Rory Milne is tied for 57th at 3-over-par 147 after firing a 2-over-par 74 in the first round and 1-over-par 73 in the second round. Starting on the ninth hole, he birdied the par-4 first and eighth holes with 12 pars in the first round. In the second round, he birdied the par-4 17th, third and par-3 seventh and had 11 pars.
Melan Dhaubhadel is tied for 60th at 4-over-par 148. He shot a 1-under-par 71 in the first round and five-over-par 77 in the second round. Starting on the eighth hole, he had birdies on the 13th, 14th, par-5 15th and par-5 sixth holes while sinking 11 pars in the first round. He collected 13 pars in the second round.
Javi Balbastre is tied for 62nd at 5-over-par 149 after shooting 2-under-par 70 in the first round and 7-over-par 79 in the second round. Starting on the ninth hole, he birdied the first, second and ffith holes and had 14 pars in the first round. In the second round, he picked up an eagle on the 10th and had 10 pars.
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
