MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team earned its second Sun Belt Conference win, knocking off Georgia State, 6-1, Friday afternoon at Heard Stadium.
Georgia State competed with just four athletes, giving ULM two singles points, on courts five and six, before the dual started.
ULM took the doubles point as
Alessandra Anghel and
Angela Del Campo Suarez defeated Michelle Ncube and Pragnya Kumar, 6-4, on court one. GSU conceded court three to ULM's
Mariam Hatem and
Alice Klinteby with no players available.
In singles play, ULM won on courts two, three and four.
Oleksandra Balaba defeated Ncube, 6-4, 6-4, on court two. Klinteby earned a win over Alexia Alvarez after Alvarez retired following the second set. Del Campo Suarez won on court four over Kumar, 7-5, 6-3. Maria Paredes defeated Anghel on court one, 6-3, 6-3.
ULM wraps up the home schedule at 10 a.m. Sunday vs. Troy. The Warhawks will honor Balaba for senior day at 9:30 a.m. at Heard Stadium.
