MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team closed the home schedule with a second-straight win, knocking off Troy, 5-2, Sunday morning at Heard Stadium.
ULM honored its lone senior,
Oleksandra Balaba, prior to the dual.
The Warhawks (5-16 overall, 3-7 Sun Belt Conference) took the doubles point. On court two, Troy's Andrea Widing and Valeriia Avdeeva gave the Trojans the early lead with a 6-4 win over ULM's Balaba and
Alice Klinteby. The Warhawks bounced back on court three as
Giovanna Pereira and
Tamara Bachmann beat Maria Guirguis and Franziska Ahrend, 6-4. ULM took the point on court one as
Alessandra Anghel and
Angela Del Campo Suarez posted a 7-5 victory over Hagar Amin and Kristina Kukaras.
In singles play, Troy tied the dual at 1 on court six as Widing won against
Mariam Hatem, 6-3, 6-3. Del Campo Suarez turned to momentum back in favor of ULM on court four, defeating Guirguis, 6-3, 6-4. The Warhawks moved to the brink of victory on court five as Pereira knocked off Olivia Elliott, 6-4, 6-2. Klinteby sealed the win for ULM on court three with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win against Avdeeva. Anghel took a court one victory against Kukaras, 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 10-4. Troy's Amin picked up the final point of the day on court two with a win over Balaba, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 10-5.
ULM closes the regular season at 10 a.m. Saturday at Texas State.
