2023 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship Results [After 18 Holes]

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The ULM women's golf team sits in second-place on the leaderboard at 3-over-par 291 after the first round of the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Championship, which is being played on the LPGA International's par-72, 6,134-yard Arthur Hills Signature Course. The Warhawks trail tournament-leader Texas State (2-under 286) by just five strokes after 18 holes. Six shots separate the top three in the team standings, with defending champion Georgia Southern positioned at 4-over 292.

Through the first round, ULM led the 13-team field with 66 pars to go along with seven birdies.

"It was a really steady first round today," ULM head coach Rachel Pollock said. "The girls were very patient. We didn't have many putts drop but to still put together a solid round just showed how well we maneuvered the golf course."

Three Warhawks are listed among the Top 12 in the individual standings, including two inside the Top 10. ULM's top four players are separated by just four shots on the leaderboard.

After 18 holes, ULM's Chantal Dueringer is in sixth place at 1-under 71, just three strokes off the pace set by Texas State's Marine Griffaut and Old Dominion's Leah Onosato who each posted scores of 4-under 68. Arkansas State's Elise Schultz, Southern Miss' Momoka Ando and Texas State's Junia Gabasa are tied for third at 2-under 70.

Dueringer, who is playing in her third Sun Belt Conference Championship, posted a 1-under 35 on the front nine, including a birdie at No. 3 to go along with eight pars. She started the back nine with a birdie at No. 10, followed by sevens pars and one bogey (No. 15). Her 18-hole totals included two birdies and 15 pars, and her 3.90 par-4 scoring average (-1) tied for the second-best total in the 65-player field.

Teammate Anna Andrysova trails Dueringer by only one shot at even-par 72 – good for a five-way tie for seventh place. Andrysova produced a 1-over 37 on the front nine with a birdie at the eighth hole to go along with six pars. She fired a 1-under 35 on the back nine, thanks to two birdies (15th and 18th holes) and two pars over her last four holes. Her 18-hole totals featured three birdies and 12 pars.

"Chantal played well," Pollock said. "She put together a very patient and composed round today even though the putts weren't falling. Anna had a great comeback playing the last four holes at 2-under to come in at even par. She holed a great 30-footer on the last green."

Alessia Mengoni, who like Dueringer is playing in her third Sun Belt Championship, is just five strokes off the pace, sitting in a six-way tie for 12th place at 1-over 73. Mengoni opened the front nine with six consecutive pars before delivering a birdie at No. 7, followed by back-to-back pars for a 1-under 35. She managed six more pars on the back nine as well as a birdie at No. 14 for a score of 2-over 38. Her first-round totals included two birdies and 14 pars.

Johanna Sjursen is locked in a six-way tie for 27th place after posting a 3-over 75. Sjursen managed a 2-over 38 on the front nine, including seven pars, and followed with a 1-over 37 on the back nine with eight pars, including six in a row to close out the first round. She tallied 15 pars through 18 holes.
