MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team seeks its third-straight win to close the regular season at 11 a.m. Saturday against Texas State at the Bobcat Tennis Complex in San Marcos.
The Warhawks are 5-16 overall and 3-7 in the Sun Belt Conference winning back-to-back matches against Georgia State, 6-1, and Troy, 5-2, in the final two home duals of the season last weekend at Heard Stadium.
Giovanna Pereira leads the team with 11 singles wins. She has played primarily in the No. 3, 4 and 5 spots. She also leads the team with 12 doubles wins after teaming with
Tamara Bachmann for a win on court three against Troy. Alice
Klinteby is second on the team with 11 singles wins, playing primarily in the No. 2 or 3 slots, and has totaled eight doubles wins, good for second on the team.
Alessandra Anghel has nine singles and eight doubles wins while playing in the top position in singles and doubles.
Texas State is 6-14 overall and 2-8 in SBC play after picking up a 4-3 win at the Ragin' Cajuns on Monday. They have won two of their last three matches after picking up a 4-3 win at Georgia State on April 8. Kate Malazonia and Sofia Fortuno lead the Bobcats with eight singles wins each, with Malazonia picking up her wins on court three and Fortuno earning seven of her eight wins on court six. Kiana Graham has seven wins on court one. In doubles play, Malazonia and Mae McCutcheon have won four matches on court one.
