MADISON, Miss. – The ULM men's golf team finished seventh overall while
Melan Dhaubhadel tied for 12th place to pace the Warhawks in the third and final round of stroke play Wednesday at Annandale Golf Club.
ULM shot 12-over-par 300 on the final day to finish at 20-over-par 884 (298-286-300) for the tournament. Georgia Southern finished stroke play in first place at 3-under-par 861 (293-280-288). South Alabama was second at 2-under-par 862 (291-290-281). Troy and the Ragin' Cajuns tied for third at 6-over-par 870. Georgia Southern, USA, Troy and the Cajuns all advance to match play on Thursday at Annandale.
South Alabama's Hugo Thyr was the individual medalist, carding an 8-under-par 208 (68-74-66).
Dhaubhadel closed the tournament with a 3-over-par 75 on Wednesday to finish at 1-over-par 217 (72-70-75). Starting on the first hole, he birdied the par-3 12th and par-4 17th holes while collecting 12 pars in the final round.
Theis Poulsen shot 4-over-par 76 on Wednesday to tie for 25th at 6-over-par 222 (72-74-76). He had three birdies in the final round, coming on the par-5 fifth, par-4 13th and par-5 18th holes and tallied nine pars.
Otto Van Buynder led the team at 2-over-par 74 on Wednesday and finished tied for 33rd at 8-over-par 224 (77-73-74). He birdied the par-4 fourth hole before opening the back nine with birdies on the par-4 10th, par-5 11th and 12th. He added one more birdie on the par-3 15th and finished with six pars on the round.
Mikkel Schmitt finished at 6-over-par 78 on Wednesday to tie for 59th at 230 (77-75-78). He picked up 13 pars in the round.
Javier Balbastre, who entered the lineup as a substitute for Tuesday's second round, factored into the team score in both of his rounds after picking up a 3-over-par 75 on Wednesday for a two-round total of even-par 144 (69-75). He birdied back-to-back holes on the par-4 14th and 15th while draining 11 pars.
