PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – No. 6-seed Marshall picked up a 4-0 sweep of No. 11-seed ULM in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Wednesday, bringing an end to ULM's season at 5-18 overall.
 
In a dual that was initially moved up to a 2:30 p.m. EDT/1:30 p.m. CDT start due to the threat of weather, rain eventually forced the start of the dual to be delayed six hours until 8:30 p.m. EDT/7:30 p.m. CDT.
 
Marshall took a highly contested singles point to take the early 1-0 lead. The Thundering Herd's Second-Team All-SBC Doubles team of Sophia Hurrion and Aisling McGrane defeated Mackenzie King and Oleksandra Balaba, 6-1, on court two. The Herd clinched the singles point on court three as Gabrielle Clairotte and Rieke Gillar won a tiebreaker over Alice Klinteby and Giovanna Pereira, 7-6 (7-3).
 
In singles play, three of the six matches reached the decisive third set. Marshall took a 2-0 lead on court three as Doroteja Joksovic defeated Alice Klinteby, 6-3, 6-1. The lead moved to 3-0 on court four, as McGrane defeated Angela Del Campo Suarez, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. The Herd clinched the match on court six, where Hurrion won against Mariam Hatem, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
