MONTGOMERY, Texas – The ULM men's golf team is tied for sixth after the first two rounds of the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational at Walden on Lake Conroe.
ULM shot 2-under-par 286 in the first round to tie for third, but fired a 6-over-par 294 in the second round to tie for sixth after the first day at 4-over-par 580. Host Sam Houston leads the field at 11-under-par 565 (274-291).
Otto Van Buynder leads ULM in a tie for 10th at 3-under-par 141 (69-72). Opening on the first hole, he shot 3-under-par 69 in the first round, sinking four birdies. He put up red numbers on the par-4 seventh, par-5 ninth, par-5 10th and par-5 16th holes while adding 13 pars. In the even-par 72 second round, he had five birdies, coming on the par-5 second, par-3 fourth, ninth, par-4 13th and 16th holes and added 10 pars. Texas A&M's Phichaksn Maichon leads the field at 6-under-par 138 (68-70).
Melan Dhaubhadel is tied for 19th at 1-under-par 143 (69-74). In the first round, he shot 3-under-par 69, knocking down birdies on the par-4 third, par-3 sixth, ninth and par-3 17th while adding an eagle on the 16th and 10 pars. He shot 2-over-par 74 in the second round with birdies on the ninth and 16th holes and 12 pars.
Rory Milne is tied for 31st at 1-over-par 145 (73-72). He shot 1-over-par 73 in the first round. Beginning on the fourth hole, he birdied on the par-4 fifth, par-5 11th, 16th and 17th holes and had 10 pars. He fired even-par 72 in the second round, with birdies on the fourth and 16th holes to go with 14 pars.
Hayes Hamilton is tied for 59th at 8-over-par 152 (75-77). He started the day on the third hole. He shot 3-over-par 75 in the first round, knocking down birdies on the fifth and ninth holes and added 12 pars. He tallied a 5-over-par 77 in the second round, opening the round with a birdie on the third and closing the round with a birdie on the second while picking up 11 pars.
Jacob Agerschou is tied for 67th at 10-over-par 154 (78-76). He shot 6-over-par 78 in the first round, with a birdie on the ninth with 12 pars. In the second round, he shot 4-over-par 76, sinking birdies on the sixth, ninth and par-3 14th holes and had nine pars.
The third round begins at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday.
