MONROE, La. – Due to wet weather across the region, the ULM tennis team will play a pair of neutral-site Sun Belt Conference duals this week, taking on Coastal Carolina at 10 a.m. Friday and Georgia Southern at 2 p.m. Saturday, indoors in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The Warhawks are 3-14 overall and 1-5 in the SBC after getting swept, 7-0, at James Madison and No. 24 Old Dominion last week.
Giovanna Pereira leads the team with 10 singles wins. She has played primarily in the No. 3, 4 and 5 spots. She also leads the team with 10 doubles wins after teaming with
Alice Klinteby for a win on court three at Arkansas State.
Klinteby is second on the team with nine singles wins, playing primarily in the No. 2 or 3 slots, and has totaled eight doubles wins, good for second on the team.
Alessandra Anghel has seven singles and five doubles wins while playing in the top position in singles and doubles.
Coastal Carolina enters Friday's dual at 13-5 overall and 5-1 inside Sun Belt Conference play. Jesse Hollins (10-2), Anna Babayan (10-6) and Tatum Burger (10-6) each have 10 singles wins for the Chanticleers, while Victoire De Samucewicz has six of her nine wins on court one. The doubles team of Babayan and Megan Hopton are 14-4 overall as the top pairing for the Chanticleers.
Georgia Southern is 13-4 overall and 4-2 entering the weekend. The Eagles are led by Nanaka Kijima's 13 wins, playing at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Silvia Martinez is 12-3 overall and has nine wins at No. 1 singles. Lindsay Tulenko and Ninon Martinache have paired for eight wins in doubles, with the lion's share of wins coming on court three.
