ULM Warhawks

MONROE, La. - The ULM beach volleyball team played its final home tournament of the season, going 4-0 to move to 26-2 overall. The weekend brought many challenges for the Warhawks, with the weather being the primary challenge. Rain, cold temperatures and wind all played major factors for the Warhawks this weekend, along with the heightened emotions of senior weekend.
 
The Warhawks honored their five seniors, Brooke Hoven, Rylin Adams, Madeline Williams, Julia Blazek and Avery Reynolds, with a jersey presentation on Saturday. The teammates and partners of these seniors all had high praise for them as people, players, teammates, and friends. Head Coach Michael Hobson also noted that these women exemplify everything it means to be a ULM Beach Volleyball player both on and off the sand.
 
ULM opened its final home tournament Friday morning with a 4-1 win over Spring Hill College for the second time this year. Kaitlyn and Kaylie Beck started the match off with a win at No. 5 over Lily Mascari and Emily Weinzapfel, 21-17, 21-7. Avery Reynolds and Claire Williamson brought in a win at No. 4 over Brooke Borgmeyer and Elizabeth Hardouin, 21-14, 18-21, 16-14. The No. 1 pair, Rylin Adams and Madeline Marquez, fell to Jessica Fairly and Kassandra Fairly, 21-16, 21-18, giving SHC their only win of the dual. Brooke Hoven and Tamsie Black clinched the win for the Warhawks at the No. 3s with a three-set thriller, defeating Linnea Beger and Kyla Shappell, 21-17, 8-21, 17-15. The No. 2s, Julia Blazek and Kaitlyn Nowak, also took their game the distance, beating Jaylyne Bell and Mikayla Boyer 21-17, 16-21, 15-12, to complete the match.
 
The Warhawks ended the first day of their invitational with a high-intensity win over Stephen F. Austin, 4-1, with three out of the five matches going three sets. Kaitlyn Beck and Kaylie Beck started the match off with a three-set victory over Rylee Erwin and Abby Elder 21-16, 18-21, 15-10. The No. 4s, Reynolds and Williamson, also took their game into extras as they defeated Olivia Duhon and Kelly Johnson 24-22, 21-23, 15-13. Once again, Hoven and Black clinched the match for ULM with a win at the No. 3s over Elaina Amador and Madison Hall, 21-17, 21-15. The No. 2s, Blazek and Nowak, made quick work of the Lumberjacks, defeating Chloe Culver and Natalie Bennett, 21-14, 21-15. The No. 1s, Adams and Marquez, took their game to the wire each set, but lost the deciding set to Madison Morrow and Hannah Ogden, 21-19, 19-21, 15-13, to end the match for the Warhawks.
 
ULM opened Saturday with a complete sweep of Central Arkansas, taking the match, 5-0. Reynolds and Williamson took the first game of the match at the No. 4s, defeating Kayla Cook and Payton Sproule, 21-15, 21-17. The No. 5s, Kaitlyn and Kaylie Beck, brought in another win to go up 2-0 after defeating Anna Collums and Naya Tan, 21-10, 21-15. Hoven and Black clinched the win for the Warhawks at the No. 3s, beating Anna Linskey and Julia Oravec, 21-16, 21-10. Blazek and Nowak added to the wins at the No. 2 with a win over Evelyn Griffith and Marissa Gilmore, 21-17, 21-10. Adams and Marquez completed the sweep at the No. 1s after beating Ryenne Gepford and Bria Garmon, 21-18, 21-15.
 
The Warhawks ended their Senior Day with a 5-0 win over Hendrix. Reynolds and Williamson brought in the first win at the No. 4s over Mabrey Matz and Riley Skief, 21-8, 21-11. Madeline Williams and Katie Felts at the No. 5 put the Warhawks up 2-0 with their win over Faith Hill and Bella Elrgil, 21-7, 21-16. ULM clinched the win at the No. 3s, as Hoven and Black defeated Meghan Fuller-Freeman and Liz Roy, 21-10, 21-8. Blazek and Nowak brought in the fourth win at the No. 2s, defeating Becca Solina and Lauren Rothe, 21-9, 21-11. The No. 1s, Adams and Marquez, completed the sweep with a win over Abby Collier and Kyler Greenlee, 21-17, 21-19.
 
The Warhawks will travel to New Orleans for their final regular season weekend of the year. They will meet Southeastern twice, Stephen F. Austin and New Orleans.
