Warhawks Place 11th at Argent Financial Classic

CHOUDRANT, La. – The ULM men's golf team finished 11th at 8-over-par 872 (290-292-290) at the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club Tuesday afternoon.
 
Southern Miss won a three-team playoff to take the team title after tying with UAB and the Ragin' Cajuns at 9-under-par 855. Middle Tennessee's Owen Stamper won the individual title at 13-under-par 203 (65-70-68).
 
Mikkel Schmitt led ULM in a tie for 19th place at 1-under-par 215. He opened the first round on the 10th hole, picking up a birdie on the par-4 14th before adding eagles on the par-5 second and par-5 ninth holes to go with nine pars to shoot 2-over-par 74. In the second round, he played a bogey-free round, firing 2-under-par 70 with birdies on the par-5 11th and second holes. He closed the tournament on Tuesday with a 1-under-par 71, sinking birdies on the par-4 13th, par-4 15th, par-5 17th and ninth holes to go with 11 pars.
 
Hayes Hamilton, playing as an individual, tied for 23rd at even par 216 (74-70-72). He shot 2-over-par 74 in Sunday's opening round, with birdies on the 15th and par-3 fifth holes and added 12 pars. In Monday's second round, he went 2-under-par 70 with birdies on the par-3 16th, second, par-4 sixth and ninth holes and sunk 12 pars. He shot even par 72 in the final round with seven pars and six birdies: par-4 10th, 11th, 17th, second, par-4 fourth and sixth holes.
 
Louis Anceaux tied for 44th at 4-over-par 220 (74-73-73). In Sunday's first round, he shot 2-over-par 74 and birdied the 11th, 17th and ninth holes and added 10 pars. In Monday's second round, he finished at 1-over-par 73 with birdies on the 15th, second and ninth holes to go with 11 pars. He closed out the tournament at 1-over-par 73 with birdies on the 16th, par-4 first, second and ninth holes and had nine pars.
 
Rory Milne also tied for 44th at 4-over-par 220 (70-76-74). In opening at 2-under-par 70 on Sunday, Milne birdied the 13th, par-4 18th, second and fourth holes and tallied 12 pars. He shot 6-over-par 76 on Monday with a single birdie on the first hole and added 12 pars. He closed the tournament on Tuesday with birdies on the 16th, 17th and fourth holes and sank 10 pars.
 
Ylan Guerin Pozzalo tied for 52nd at 5-over-par 221 (72-75-74). He opened with an even par 72 on Sunday with birdies on the 11th, 17th, par-3 third and ninth holes and had 12 pars. In the second round, he sank birdies on the 13th, first and second holes and had 12 more pars. He closed on Tuesday with birdies on the second and fourth holes and 12 pars.
 
Theis Poulsen rounded out ULM's golfers at 9-over-par 225 (79-74-72) to tie for 67th. He had birdies on the 18th, second and ninth holes to go with seven pars while shooting 7-over-par 79 in the first round. He improved to 2-over-par 74 in the second round with birdies on the 15th, 17th and second holes to go with 10 pars. He closed out with an even par 72 in the final round on Tuesday with birdies on the 16th, 17th and second holes and 13 pars.
 
ULM continues the fall season on Sept. 24-26 at the Graeme McDowell Intercollegiate in Oneonta, Alabama.
