LAFAYETTE, La. -- The ULM tennis team (1-6, 0-1 Sun Belt) fell to the Ragin' Cajuns (4-3, 1-0) in the first conference matchup of the season on Saturday (March 9) at the Cajun Courts in Lafayette, La.
The Ragin' Cajuns claimed the doubles point after Carla Urchoeguia and Angelique Berrat won in No. 1 doubles, 6-2, over
Mariam Hatem and
Angela Del Campo Suarez. Kamea Medora and Nina Krecklenberg defeated
Tamara Bachmann and
Mackenzie King 6-2 in No. 3 doubles. In the No. 2 doubles match, the score was 5-2 in favor of Paige Duncan and Jenaila Prulla versus Giov anna Pereira and
Alice Klinteby when play was halted.
Duncan beat Bachmann 6-2, 6-0 in No. 5 singles while Krecklenberg won 6-0, 6-2 in No. 6 singles for the Ragin' Cajuns. Berrat beat Pereira 6-0, 6-3 in No. 4 singles. Del Campo Suarez won a three-set thriller over Prulla after dropping the first set, 2-6, 7-6, 7-5. Hatem also rallied in a three-set match and was victorious 3-6, 7-6, 6-0. In No. 1 singles, Urchoeguia won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
ULM is back on the courts Monday (March 11) at Tulane when the Warhawks travel to New Orleans to take on the Green Wave.
