MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team (2-3) fell in their match against the LSU Shreveport Pilots (4-1) on Thursday (Feb. 27), falling 3-4 at Heard Stadium.
 
The duos of Cado/Jorrin finished first on court two, falling 4-6 to Angela Basto and Maike Tiemersma of LSU Shreveport. Doubles duo Hatem/Krnjic claimed the win on court one, taking it 6-4. On court three, doubles duo Alvaro/Li fell 7-5 to secure the doubles point for the Pilots.
 
In singles play, Mariia Iordanova claimed the first win for the Warhawks, taking Daniela Maldonado Perez in straight sets, tying the score. Raquel Alvaro took it to a tiebreaker in the first set, but ultimately dropped both to Sara Sofia Sanchez Molano. Vanja Cado was the first Warhawk to win after three sets, claiming the first and third in a gritty win to tie it again. Tingyi Li fell in straight sets on court two to give the Pilots the advantage. While Lucia Jorrin Fernandez closed out the match with a determinate three-set win, it was the Pilots that found success on court one over Mariam Hatem.
 
The ULM tennis team will be on the road again for the weekend, traveling to Jackson, Miss. to take on the Jackson State Tigers on Saturday (March 1). First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
