Nathan Weant was named the assistant golf coach for the ULM men’s golf team in August of 2018.

In his first season as the assistant coach, Weant helped the Warhawks men’s team to two tournament titles, the best national ranking in program history, and a runner up finish at the 2019 Sunbelt Conference Championship where they fell to Arkansas State in the finals after beating top seeded Georgia Southern in the semifinal round of match play. The 2018-19 season also saw Guillaume Fanonnel set a new school scoring average record of 71.31. Fanonnel finished among the best players in the nation and was selected to compete in the NCAA Regional tournament hosted by Stanford.

Weant arrived in Monroe after one year as the head coach at Indian Hills Community College. In his lone season at IHCC, Weant's Warriors won the 2018 NJCAA Division I National Championship, and he was named the NJCAA District 3 Coach of the Year, the Delnor Poss National Coach of the Year, and the NJCAA Dave Williams National Coach of the Year. Indian Hills won three of four tournaments in the fall of the 2017-18 season and followed that up with first-place finishes in six of seven tournaments in the spring season, culminating with its nine-stroke margin over runner-up Iowa Western for the national title. Weant compiled a record of 128-5 as the head coach of the Warriors.

A two-year letterwinner on the Texas Tech golf team, Weant then transferred to Stephen F. Austin where he also lettered in golf for two years and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration
