2015 Outdoor:  Earned a gold medal running the second-leg of the 4x400m relay team that finished at a season-best time of 3:09.47 at the SBC Championships and also won a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles with a 52.10 score… reached the finals of NCAA East Regionals in the 400m hurdles for the third consecutive year and tallied a season-best time of 51.71 to finish 15th... champion of the 400m hurdles (53.53) at the Jim Mize Invitational… champion in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.85 at the Carl Kight Invitational… came one spot away from qualifying for the finals of the 400m hurdles (52.06) at the Texas Relays… personal-record of 48.45 to finish top-10 in the 400m at the Leon Johnson Invitational… top-10 in the 400m (48.76) at the UCA Open

2015 Indoor: Personal-record and top-10 finish of 49.19 in the 400m at the SBC Championships – also ran the third leg of a season-best, third-place 4x400m team that clocked in at 3:17.44 - ran the second-leg of a season-best, sixth place distance medley relay time that clocked in at 10:21.20… top-10 in the 400m (49.48) at the Samford Invitational… registered a personal-record of 2:00.82 in the 800m at the Vulcan Invite… ran a 2:02.42 in the 800m at the Texas A&M Invitational

2014 Outdoor: Sun Belt Conference Champion in the 400m hurdles at a time of 52.19 and ran a leg of the season-best and second-place 4x400m relay team (3:10.58) at the SBC Championships… reached the finals of the NCAA East Regionals in the 400m hurdles after setting a personal-record of 51.29 in the preliminaries – came just 0.02 seconds away from reaching the NCAA Finals after a 51.44 time came one spot away from qualifying in his heat… was just one of four ULM student-athletes to represent the program at NCAA East Regionals… finished sixth in the 400m hurdles (54.51) at the Carl Knight Invitational… season-best 16.22 in the 110m hurdles and ran a 56.27 in the 400m hurdles at the McNeese Challenge… season-best 49.79 in the 400m and ran a 56.10 in the 400m hurdles at the UCA Open

2014 Indoor: Ran a 49.81 in the 400m and a personal-record 8.69 in the 60m hurdles at the SBC Championships… sprinted for a time of 49.68 in the 400m at the Texas A&M Invitational… top-10 in the 400m (50.93) and scored an 8.86 in the 60m hurdles at the KMS Invitational… recorded a 2:00.17 in the 800m and 8.82 in the 60m hurdles at the Vulcan Invite

2013 Outdoor: Qualified for the semi-finals at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships with a 17th place time of 52:23 in the 400m hurdles… won the 400m hurdles with a 52.74 time at the LSU Alumni Gold… took fourth in the 400m hurdles finals (52.63) at the SBC Championships… runner-up in the 400m hurdles (52.52) and top-10 in the 110m hurdles (15.35) at the SFA Invitational and ran the first leg of the second-place team in the 4x400 relay… runner-up in the 400m hurdles (53.24) at the Samford Invitational… runner-up in the 400m hurdles (54.84) at the McNeese Relays… ran on the 4x400m relay team at the SBC Championships... third in the 400m hurdles (54:91) and top-10 in the 110m hurdles (15.69) at the Louisiana Classics… top-20 in the 400 hurdles (53:40) at the Texas Relays… top-20 in the 110m hurdles (15.84) at the Ole Miss Invitational

2013 Indoor: Finished sixth in the 600m at the McNeese Invitational with a time of 1:27.43… season-best time of 7.68 in the 55m hurdles at the Samford Invitational... clocked in a second-place time of 3:20.49 in the 4x400 relay and came in third in the 60m hurdles (8.67) at the LSU Twilight… clocked in at 50.43 in the 400m and 8.96 in the 55m hurdles at the SBC Championships… ran the third leg of the fourth place team (3:18.08) in the 4x400 at the SBC Championships

2012 Outdoor: Was part of the third place 1,600 meter relay team at the Sun Belt Conference Championships...Was the runner up in 400 meter hurdles at the Leon Johnson Invitational....Member of the champion 400 meter and 1,600 meter relays at the Leon Johnson Invitational.

2012 Indoor: Ran a leg of the 1,600 meter relay team that placed third at the Sun Belt Conference Championships...Also ran on the distance medley relay team that were runner-ups at the conference meet.

Prep: Lettered three years in track & field at Longview High School ... Placed sixth in the 300-meter hurdles at the Texas 4A state championships as a senior ... Part of 4X400-meter relay team that won back-to-back District 13-4A titles in 2009 and 2010 ... Coached by Chris Clay ... Also played football, helping Longview to the state finals twice.

Personal: Full name is Jamel Isaiah Sams ... Birthday is Aug. 21 ... Son of Chris Sams and Amella Arthur ... Has three brothers, Chrs, Christian and Andre, and two sisters, Camella and Chrisean ... Majoring in computer science.
