Phil Shaw M.Ed., LAT, ATC, returned to the Warhawks as the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine in April 2026.
Shaw returns to ULM after spending a decade with Ouachita Parish High School as the head athletic trainer. Prior to his time with Ouachita Parish HS, Shaw spent 12 years with the Warhawks in a variety of roles. He began as the head athletic trainer in 2004. In 2006, Shaw was named the Assistant Athletic Director for Operations, serving in the role for five years before being named Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations.
Prior to his tenure with the Warhawks, Shaw spent two years at Coffee High School in Douglas, Georgia. He was responsible for 17 varsity sports as the head athletic trainer, along with supervising student athletic trainers. Shaw arrived to Coffee HS after two years at Coffee Regional Medical Center, where he served as an athletic trainer implementing outreach programs to rural schools. Shaw also spent multiple years at healthcare facilities in Northeast Louisiana, spending four years from 1996 to 2000 with Glenwood SportsCare in West Monroe.
His first venture at ULM was in 1993, working toward his master’s while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. He got his start in working as a student athletic trainer at West Alabama. He got his bachelor’s degree in physical education from West Alabama in 1993 before going on to get his master’s in education with a minor in administration and supervision from ULM in 1995.
Shaw is married to his wife, Cindy, and has two children, Zach and Caycee. Zach played four years of baseball with the Warhawks from 2022 to 2025.
