MONROE, La. -- The ULM tennis program continued to build itself up with recent, substantial improvements to Raymond Heard Tennis Stadium.
The facility, which has served as a home for the program since 1976, now has brand new lockers and a team study and leisure area. The dark wood lockers feature drawers on the bottom and cabinets on top. A large office-style desk will also serve as a computer spot for the athletes in close proximity of a leather couch and recliner. Fundraising efforts were steered by head coach
Terrence De Jongh and his staff as well as ULM athletic administrators.
"There are several new girls and returners with us who are all super excited about this renovation," De Jongh said. "It's a new face and new opportunity for the program and them as well, and we are still looking at more ways to improve the program."
The Warhawks, who have won 15 matches in five of the last six seasons, will also host their first fall tournament since 2010. The Warhawk Fall Tennis Tournament is slated for Sept. 18-20 as the season opener.
