ULM FOOTBALL PRACTICE REPORT - DAY SEVEN

ULM FOOTBALL PRACTICE REPORT - DAY SEVEN

Football
MONROE, La. --- The football was flying and the offense soared in the ULM Warhawk football team's first scrimmage of the fall at Malone Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

The Warhawks opened the afternoon's practice by working on run throughs of a few position drills and some passing situations. After that, ULM opened up the scrimmage at a little after 5 p.m. and showed off the highly-touted offensive punch.

The ULM quarterbacks hooked up with three tight ends and a wide receiver to score a touchdown on four consecutive plays during one stretch. Junior Kinsmon Lancaster connected on two of the scoring strikes before giving way to redshirt freshman Trey Revell and freshman Antron Mason.

On the day ULM picked up touchdowns in the air from wide receivers LaGregory Sapp and Anthony McCall and tight ends Zeek Zacharie, Justin Waller and Jamal Henry. Zacharie finished the day by finding the end zone twice, the second time on a 40 yard pass in which he broke away down the sideline.

“He [Zacharie] runs well for a big guy,” ULM football head coach Charlie Weatherbie said. “He is a Mackey Award candidate which is awarded to the top tight end in the country. He is a guy that can be a real force for us.”

The ULM coaches also used this opportunity to get a look at some of the younger guys on the team in game situations.

“I thought Trey Revell threw the ball well at times today,” Weatherbie said. “He threw the ball particularly well when we got down inside the red zone.”

The Warhawks return to the turf Friday at 9 p.m. as they kick off their second two-a-day practice this week.

Injury Update: senior offensive lineman Joseph Joseph (back) - medical retirement; junior wide receiver J.J. McCoy (Achilles) - out for season; redshirt freshman offensive lineman Doug Stroud (knee) - 6-8 weeks

Injury Note: Junior linebacker Chance Payne has been cleared by team doctors after sustaining a mild knee injury that limited his practice ability over the last few weeks.

Next practice - Friday, Aug. 10, 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
