State rallied for a 3-1 (30-32, 30-21,
30-18, 30-20) victory over ULM
in non-conference volleyball action Tuesday night inside Prather Coliseum.
Ilima Sam
Fong led the Warhawks (0-13) with a double-double posting 11 kills and 20 digs,
while Stephanie Hall continued to be ULM's most consistent offensive threat
smashing 10 kills; her fifth match with double-digit kills.
Ashley Onley
was nearly flawless running the Warhawk offense with 34 assists in 36 total attempts;
she also had four digs and a block. Mari
O'Neal finished with nine kills and three service aces; Megan Osborne posted 10
digs.
Talita
Santos and Yelena Enwere led all players with 16 kills a piece for the Demons
(3-5). Northwestern
State hit .242 as a team in the second
meeting with ULM in three days; the teams met on
Saturday with Northwestern
State coming out on top
3-2 at the Stephen F. Austin Invitational.
The
Warhawks have continued to improve from beyond the service line over the past
four matches. ULM was averaging 19.8 service errors per
match over its first nine contests of the season, but has cut that number down
to 10.5 since Friday, including just seven tonight.
Sun Belt
play awaits the Warhawks in their next match in 10 days. Florida International (5-2, 0-0) will make
its way to Monroe on Friday, September 21 at
7:00 pm for ULM's
first home match since August 28 and just its second home tilt of the
season. The Warhawks conclude the opening weekend of
conference play with Florida Atlantic (3-7, 0-0) on Sunday, September 23 at 1:00
pm.
