TROY, Ala.?Troy outscored ULM 17-7 in the second half en route to a 24-7 victory in Sun Belt action in front of 18,273 fans at Movie Gallery Stadium. The Warhawks' Calvin Dawson extended his NCAA-best consecutive 100-yard rushing games streak to nine with a season-high 159 yards on 20 carries.

Omar Haugabook completed 29-of-49 for 288 yards and a pair of touchdowns putting the Trojans to 2-0 in conference play and 3-2 overall. ULM falls to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in Sun Belt play.

Dawson has rushed for 556 yards this season in four games averaging 139.0 yards per game and 5.7 yards per carry. The senior from Bossier City, La. needs just 542 yards over ULM's final eight games to become the all-time leading rushing in Warhawk history.

Troy broke open a scoreless game with a 28-yard interception return with 2:33 left in the opening half. Boris Lee picked off Kinsmon Lancaster and took it all the way back for the first score of the game.

ULM held the Trojans offense to just 17 points and 389 yards after they entered the game averaging 36.5 points and 460.5 yards per game.

The Trojans opened the second half with a 17-play 85-yard drive in which they converted four third-down chances ending with a four-yard touchdown pass from Haugabook to Kennard Burton with 10:04 to play in the third quarter.

ULM answered Troy's touchdown with a two-yard touchdown pass from Lancaster to Zeek Zacharie capping a 10-play 70-yard drive that took just under five minutes off the clock closing the gap to 14-7 with 5:13 to play in the third quarter.

Haugabook put the Trojans back up by 14 with a six-yard touchdown pass to Josh Allen with 30 second remaining in the third quarter. Troy used 10 plays to cover 80 yards in less than three minutes. Greg Whibbs upped the lead to 24-7 with a 24-yard field goal with just over 13 minutes to play in the game.

ULM had a chance to get on the board first with a first-and-goal from the one-yard line on its second possession of the game, but Troy stuffed the line on four-consecutive plays spoiling a 58-yard run by Dawson. The Warhawks defense crushed the Trojans momentum forcing a three-and-out and a punt from the back of the end zone, but Darrell McNeal fumbled the punt return and Troy recovered on their own 35-yard line.

James Truxillo picked off his first-career pass intercepting Haugabook in the first quarter and sophomore Greg James pulled down his seventh-career interception in the second quarter; also off Haugabook. The Warhawks have picked off the Sun Belt Player of the Year five times in the last two meetings.

The Warhawks return home for the first time in a month next weekend when they host Arkansas State Saturday night at 6:00 pm in Malone Stadium. ULM will honor the 1987 National Championship team at halftime of the game.
