LAFAYETTE, La. ? Calli Oliver tallied a hat-trick on her senior day and Courtney Hofland added two more scores to help Louisiana-Lafayette down the ULM soccer team, 5-2, in the final match of 2008 for both teams in Lafayette, La. on Friday evening.
Freshman Kelly Browne gave the Warhawks the lead in the opening minute of play with her fourth goal of the season, a chip shot over the fingertips of Ragin' Cajun goalkeeper Amanda Moorefield.
Louisiana-Lafayette (5-12-2, 3-7-1 Sun Belt) would grab the lead less than five minutes later after Oliver scored a pair of goals to make it a 2-1 game. ULM (4-13-1, 1-9-1 Sun Belt) held serve for the remainder of the opening period and entered the intermission trailing by a single score.
Six minutes into the second period, Hofland netted the game-winner for the Ragin' Cajuns.
ULL would add two more scores to take a 5-1 lead before sophomore Ashleigh Fitterer connected on the first goal of her career, a blast to the top right corner of the goal. Fitterer finished with a team and career-high five shots, including three on frame.
ULM outshot Louisiana-Lafayette in the game, 18-16, but managed only eight shots on frame. The Ragin' Cajuns placed 11 on target, including five that found the back of the net.
