LAFAYETTE, La. --- The ULM
volleyball team ended its season Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 (25-22, 20-25,
25-17, 25-22) defeat at Louisiana-Lafayette inside the Earl K. Long Gymnasium in
Lafayette, La.
Louisiana-Lafayette (8-20, 5-13
Sun Belt) was led by Elizabeth Inman's match-high 12 kills and .500 hitting
percent. Kendra Hall contributed with a match-high 39 assists along with eight
digs.
ULM (1-31, 0-18) setter Helen
Theisen recorded her second double-double of the season with 32 assists and 11
digs. Mari O'Neal added nine kills and front line player Ashley Bland chipped
in 12 digs, seven kills and seven blocks.
Senior Johanna Spreen ended the season
with nine kills in the match and 346 for her career.
The Ragin' Cajuns took advantage of
many Warhawk attacking errors to win sets one and three, 25-22 and 25-17. ULM
answered back in set two. The Warhawks jumped out to an early 7-2 lead and
never looked back. Throughout the first three sets there were no lead changes
and only six ties.
The fourth set was a nail-biter
featuring 17 ties and 11 lead changes. Neither team would lead in the set by
more than three points. Facing a 21-21
tie, ULL's Lindsay Brown served a pair off aces to start a final 4-1 run and
give the Ragin' Cajuns a fourth-set win and a 3-1 match victory.
ULM ended its season with O'Neal
leading in the kills department with 219, Theisen assisting on 561 kills,
Christy Tribble adding 554 digs and 21 service aces, and Bland contributing
with 88 total blocks.
