ULM Softball Falls in Pitchers? Duel on Final Day of Louisiana Tech Tournament, 1-0

Softball

RUSTON, La. ? Senior Lindsay Rittenhouse was sharp for the ULM softball team in the circle, but a walk in the third inning came around to score and provide Louisiana Tech with the winning score in a 1-0 game in the finale of tournament action on Sunday afternoon.

Rittenhouse (0-2) surrendered only three hits in the game, all singles, but a two-out knock in the third inning to Amberly Waits plated the games winning run. Emma Barnes scored from second base after becoming the beneficiary of the Warhawk hurler's lone walk of the day.

Rittenhouse would retire every remaining Techster that came to the plate, but the damage had been done. ULM falls to 0-3 on the season while Louisiana Tech improves to 2-2.

The Warhawks put together several promising offensive innings, but couldn't force any runners home. In the game's first two innings, ULM had a runner on with only one out, but couldn't muster any additional offense.

Louisiana Tech hurler Krissi Oliver (2-0) scattered two Warhawks hits between the third and the sixth innings to keep the ULM bats at bay.

ULM mounted one final charge in the seventh inning. Senior Jamie Liles and sophomore Megan Miller reached on an error and a single, respectively, to start the frame, but were erased by a pair of fielders' choices.

Freshman Molly McNeill finished with a game-high two hits for the Warhawks, both singles. ULM finished the game by out hitting the Techsters by a 5-3 margin.

The Warhawks return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Natchitoches, La. to face long-time rival Northwestern State in doubleheader action beginning at 5 p.m.
