Four-Run Seventh Inning Lifts Stephen F. Austin to 7-5 Victory over ULM

NACOGDOCHES, Texas?Stephen F. Austin scored four runs in the seventh inning to pull away from ULM for a 7-5 victory Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Jaycees Field.

The Warhawks lineup featured seven different position players from yesterday's starting group and had combined for just 33 starts this season.

The Lumberjacks (11-11) entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 4-3 after ULM (14-8, 7-2 Sun Belt) scored four times in the sixth. The first two runners of the inning reached on bunt singles and Noel Trevino provided the game-winner with a two-run single in the right-center field gap.

Casey Auttonberry led of the Warhawks half of the sixth with a single and then back-to-back sacrifice bunts and a throwing error put runners on second and third. Jordy Poche singled back up the middle putting ULM on the board.

Nick Maragas tied the game with a single up the middle and Evan Saucier gave the Warhawks a 4-3 lead with a drive to center field.

The ?Jacks jumped out to a 3-0 lead with single runs in the first, second and fourth innings.

ULM attempted a rally in the ninth inning with Darren Sutton drawing a bases loaded walk, but Lance Luetge struck out Poche to end the game.

Danial McHenry (0-1) entered in relief for the Warhawks in the third inning and was effective for the first four innings of his outing before allowing back-to-back-to-back singles in the seventh. He was charged with his first loss of the season allowing four runs on six hits.

Jeremy Tamer (1-0) picked up the win for Stephen F. Austin throwing 2 1/3 innings not allowing a hit.

The Warhawks return to Sun Belt Conference play this weekend hosting conference leader Florida Atlantic (16-6, 6-1) beginning at 7:00 p.m. Friday night at Warhawk Field.
