RUSTON, La. ? The ULM softball team couldn't overcome a fast start from the Louisiana Tech offense in falling 6-1 in Ruston, La. in the fourth installment of the season series on Tuesday night at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
The Lady Techsters improved to 4-0 against the Warhawks this season and moved to 3-0 when the two teams have played in Ruston.
Louisiana Tech (23-20) took the early 2-0 lead after plating a pair of runs in the opening frame. The Lady Techsters would chase Warhawks starter Lindsey Rittenhouse (4-12) from the game in the third after scoring four more to take a 6-0 lead.
Sophomore Kandace Causey would enter the game and combine with senior Shanna Swillie to shut down the LT offense, but the damage had already been done.
ULM (12-26) would scratch across a single run in the top of the sixth to trim the deficit to 6-1. Junior Megan Miller stood on first with two outs before stealing second and coming home on an RBI single by junior Erica Darden up the middle.
ULM would muster no more offense in the game as the Lady Techster relievers retired the next four batters to give starter Krissy Oliver (10-10) the victory.
The Warhawks return to action on Saturday when they host league-foe Western Kentucky at the ULM Softball Complex in a weekend doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
