Baptist scored runs in six different innings defeating ULM 18-5 in the second game of a midweek set.
The Patriots (22-9) scored 11 of their 18 runs with two outs. They recorded 21 hits on the afternoon and took advantage of five ULM (20-11) fielding errors.
With one run already on the board, Ryan Enos cleared the
bases with a triple to right center giving Dallas Baptist a 4-0 lead and control of the game in the second inning.
The lead swelled to 13-0 in the fifth inning before the
Warhawks got on the board when Darren Sutton scored on a throwing error by
Patriot starter Jordan Meaker.
Sutton finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk in the second start of
his career.
Meaker improved to 4-0 on the season tossing six innings
allowing just one unearned run while scattering five hits.
D.J. Fortenberry (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season
lasting just two innings allowing five runs on six hits.
ULM pushed four runs across the plate in the final two innings on two-run singles by Matt Collins and A.J. Siggers.
The Warhawks look to regroup this weekend when they travel
down to Lafayette, La., for a three-game Sun Belt series against
Louisiana-Lafayette beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
