MONROE,
La. --- The ULM volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Southeastern
Louisiana (25-13, 18-25, 25-18, 25-18) Tuesday night, for the second time in five days. After having
played the Lady Lions this past weekend, the Warhawks were familiar with SLU
but were unable to pull away with a victory.
During
the first set, the Warhawks (0-10) found themselves down 11-3 early on but were
unable to recover, dropping the first set 25-13. During the second set, the
Warhawks again found themselves down early again but were able to rebound with
a 19-7 run, with the help of freshman Ashley Bland's two service aces and four
kills.
The
third and fourth sets would prove differently as the Lady Lions (2-3) would
take both sets, 25-18, behind Arianne Cruckshank's 32 assists and 14 digs on
the night.
The
Warhawks were led by freshman Helen Theisen's double-double, 24 assists and 11
digs. Theisen's double-double is the first of her career and the first of the
season for the Warhawks. Also for the Warhawks, Bland would add 12 kills and
two service aces.
The
Warhawks next travel to Conway, Ark., Sept. 19-20, to battle in the Sugar Bear
Classic. On Friday, the Warhawks will play host-Central Arkansas at 6 p.m. Then
on Saturday, they clash with Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 10 a.m. and Northwestern
State at 12 p.m.
