ULM Soccer Moved to NELSA Soccer Complex This Weekend

MONROE, La. – The ULM women's soccer team returns to Monroe this weekend for a pair of Sun Belt contests against Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky. Due to field conditions at the ULM Soccer Complex, this weekend's matches will be played at the NELSA Soccer Complex at Chennault Park. The Warhawks will host Middle Tennessee on Friday at 4 p.m., and Western Kentucky on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The NESLA Soccer Complex is located about two miles east of Pecanland Mall down Millhaven Avenue, inside Chennault Park. For more detailed directions, see the Northeast Louisiana Soccer Association website.

ULM (2-9-2, 1-4-0) fell in a pair of matches last weekend at Florida Atlantic and Florida International but the Warhawks did win their last contest in Monroe, a 2-0 victory over UALR on Oct. 2. Sophomore midfielder Kelly Browne and junior forward Ashleigh Fitterer each scored their second goal of the season last weekend for the Warhawks in the Sunshine State. In goal, senior Mallory George and freshman Alex Holland continue to split time for ULM. Holland is averaging 5.50 saves per contest, sixth-best among Sun Belt goalkeepers. 

Middle Tennessee (10-3-1, 4-2-0) split a pair of Sun Belt contests last weekend, defeating Arkansas State, 3-1, and falling to UALR, 2-1. The Blue Raiders are averaging 2.79 goals per game, most in the Sun Belt. Shan Jones leads the potent offense for Middle Tennessee with eight goals and 19 points on the season. Jones' eight goals are tied for the most by any player in the Sun Belt and her 19 points currently ranks third in the conference. Defensively, Rebecca Cushing has seen the majority of time in goal; she has a 1.20 goals against average, fifth-best in the Sun Belt.

Western Kentucky (10-3-1, 5-1) enters this weekend's play having won four-straight matches, not allowing a single goal in any of those victories. Kellie Walker's five goals, 10 assists and 20 points lead WKU; Walker is second in the Sun Belt in points scored and leads the league in assists. On the back end, Libby Stout has a conference-best 0.59 goals against average and a .885 save percentage, also best in the Sun Belt.

Next weekend, the Warhawks travel to South Alabama and Troy for their final road trip of the regular season. ULM will play at South Alabama on Friday (Oct. 23) at 7 p.m., and at Troy on Sunday (Oct. 25) at 1 p.m.
