MONROE, La – Senior defender Raydan Phillips and senior midfielder Britnie Markham each scored goals, but it wasn't enough as the ULM women's soccer team fell, 6-2, on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 18) at the NELSA Soccer Complex.

Western Kentucky (12-3-1, 7-1-0) started the match strong, scoring three goals in the opening 45 minutes. Sydney Sisler opened the scoring off a feed from Kellie Walker in the fourth minute of play. Kaylyn Pratt made it 2-0 for the Lady Toppers at 10:15 with a goal from Katie Walker. WKU's final first half tally came in the 38th minute as Libby Stout fed Christen Sims for a goal.

WKU outshot ULM, 7-3, in the first half.

After the break, Megan Meinke scored in the 58th minute to give Western Kentucky a 4-0 lead. Meinke's goal was unassisted.

But ULM (2-11-2, 1-6-0) refused to quit as Phillips scored in the 76th minute. After the Warhawks drew a free kick, sophomore forward Lindsey Tubbs took the kick from 35 yards out. Phillips rose highest at the six-yard box and got a deflection to score her first goal of the season.

The Warhawks pulled another goal back at 85:30 as Markham made a nice turn on a ball straight in front of goal from 15 yards out and slotted it home. The goal was Markham's third of the season.

Western Kentucky finished the scoring as Shannon Boone and Sarah Sweeney each tallied before the final whistle for the Lady Toppers.

Western Kentucky outshot ULM, 17-6, for the contest. Senior goalkeeper Mallory George made seven saves for the Warhawks in goal.

ULM will return to action next Friday (Oct. 23) when it begins its final regular season road trip at South Alabama. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m., in Mobile.
