MONROE, La. ? The ULM softball team split a pair of games in the 21st annual Mardi Gras Classic Saturday afternoon at the ULM Softball Complex. The Warhawks opened the day with a 2-1 victory over Central Arkansas before falling to Southeast Missouri State 4-3 in the nightcap.

Megan Miller moved into a tie for fourth on the all-time ULM home run list and a tie for seventh on the all-time RBI list, when she hit the game-winning long ball against the Bears (3-5) in the sixth inning. Jessica Chastka picked up her first-career win for ULM (3-4) with a complete game effort, striking out three and allowing just three hits.

Sarah Carriger continued to be productive offensively for the Warhawks, going 1-for-1 with a walk and a pair of sacrifice bunts in the win against the Bears. She also stole home to give the Warhawks the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Central Arkansas tied the game back up in the top of the second inning when Kasey Britt scored on an error. The score remained tied until Miller hit her home run in the sixth inning.

Giana Zimmerman not only picked up her second victory of the season for the Redhawks against ULM, she also drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning with her bunt-single. Southeast Missouri State (3-1) would get another run off an error later in the inning, which proved to be the game-winner.

ULM took the early lead against Southeast Missouri State when Katie Girardi drove in Carriger with a single to left field in the top of the third inning. The Redhawks grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third inning with a pair runs to lead 2-1.

After the Warhawks tied the game in the fourth inning, Southeast Missouri State took the lead on an RBI-bunt-single. The Redhawks got another run on a ULM error.

Molly McNeill made things interesting with a line-drive home run to center field in the sixth inning, but the Warhawks couldn't make the comeback, dropping the 4-3 decision.

ULM will be back in action tomorrow when it takes on Central Arkansas again at 12:30 p.m., then in-state rival Centenary in the 3 p.m. finale.
