SHREVEPORT, La. ? The ULM softball team fell to its in-state rival Centenary, 5-4, Wednesday evening at the Centenary Softball Complex in Shreveport, La.

Jessica Bock (5-1) got the win for the Ladies while Jessica Chastka (1-2) gave up four runs on four hits to take the loss for ULM.

The Warhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first two and a half innings, but gave up four runs to the Ladies in the bottom of the third inning. Centenary (9-2) would add what proved to be the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a solo home run by Lindsey Smith.

Roxane Cassel and Jessica Olguin gave the Warhawks (3-7) a 2-0 lead in the second inning, both drove home runs on a fielder's choice. The Warhawks added another run in the top of the third inning on a Melissa Rivera RBI-single to center field scoring Katie Girardi.

The bottom of the third inning is when the Ladies made their run. They scored four runs on three hits in the frame, highlighted by a two-run shot from Ashley Shepperd down the left field line to give Centenary a 4-3 lead. Smith's homer in the sixth inning made it a 5-3 advantage for the Ladies.

ULM tried to put together a rally in the top of the seventh inning after Michelle Farrell-Fink smacked an RBI-double to right field, but it wasn't quite enough as Centenary held on for the 5-4 win.

The Warhawks will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to play in the Tulsa Select Inn Invitational starting Friday night at 5 p.m.
