ULM Soccer Falls at North Texas, 4-0

DENTON, Texas - Michelle Young scored a pair of goals to lead North Texas to a 4-0 victory over the ULM soccer team on Sunday afternoon.

North Texas (6-4, 2-0) opened the scoring in the 11th minute on a goal by Young off a feed from Ellen Scarfone. Scarfone led Young with a pass and Young beat ULM freshman goalkeeper Alex Holland for the goal.

Young's tally was the only goal in an even opening 45 minutes that saw both team registered four shots. ULM (1-7-2, 0-2) earned six corner kicks in the first stanza to just one for North Texas.

Following the intermission, the Mean Green doubled its advantage at the 50:15 mark, Kelsey Perlman tallied the goal with a chip over a fallen Mallory George, who had come on for Holland in goal for the Warhawks.

Young scored her second of the contest, fifth of the season, for North Texas in the 53rd minute. Young's shot beat Holland after taking a deflection on its way toward goal. Scarfone added a goal for the Mean Green at 80:33 to complete the scoring.

North Texas outshot ULM 12-0 in the second half, junior midfielder Amy Porch led ULM with two shots in the contest. Holland made one save in goal for the Warhawks while George made three stops after entering the contest.

The Warhawks will return to action on Friday (Oct. 2) when they host UALR at the ULM Soccer Complex at 4 p.m. ULM will also host Arkansas State next Sunday (Oct. 4) at 1 p.m., and will be celebrating Parents Weekend against the Trojans and Red Wolves.
