TULSA, Okla.-Tulsa found the back
of the net on seven of its 16 shot attempts in a 7-0 victory over ULM Sunday
afternoon in women's soccer action at Hurricane Field. The contest marked the
finale of the Tulsa Invitational Tournament.
The Golden Hurricane (2-1-1)
scored four times in the opening half and three times in the final 45 minutes of play
led by two goals each from Danielle Hughes and Jennifer Kacergis.
Stephanie Aitken scored the
game-winner from 20 yards out off a pass from Emily McElrath in the seventh
minute. Hughes followed two minutes and five seconds later putting a rebound
off a shot by Kacergis past ULM keeper Alex Holland.
Raydan Phillips led the
Warhawks (1-3) with three shots - one on goal. Four others tallied
one shot, including one on goal by Lindsey Tubbs.
Kayla Chambers and Shelbi
Steele also netted goals for the Golden Hurricane, while Sarah Greene, Rachel
Garcia and Jasamine Mendiola tallied assists.
The Warhawks forced Tulsa into
12 offside calls during the match while not having one called on them. For the
season, ULM opponents have been whistled for 31 offside calls compared to just
four by the Warhawks.
ULM returns home from its
three-match road trip to host Southeastern Louisiana next Sunday at 1 p.m. at
the ULM Soccer Complex. The Warhawks, who are 1-0 at home this season, play
three of their next four matches at home.
