NEW YORK - Sun Belt Conference
Defensive Player of the Year Cardia Jackson added a pair of awards to his
resume on Thursday when College Football Insiders named the ULM linebacker to its
All-College and All-BCS Buster Teams.
The senior from Monroe, La., led the Sun Belt
Conference with 117 tackles, 71 solo tackles and a 9.8 tackles-per-game
average. Jackson became the conference's all-time leader in total tackles in
week 10 against Western Kentucky.
In addition to earning the league's top
defensive honor, Jackson was an All-Sun Belt First Team selection for the
second straight season. He was also named to the All-Louisiana First Team and
finished one vote shy of earning Louisiana Defensive Player of the Year honors.
He became the first ULM player since 1996-97
to record over 100 tackles in back-to-back seasons. At the end of the season
Jackson ranked second among all active players in the NCAA with 228 career solo
tackles and fourth with 381 career total stops.
Jackson was named as an honorable mention
on the College Football Insiders All-College Team and was a first team
selection on the BCS Buster Team, which comprises players from the Sun Belt Conference, Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, Mountain West Conference and the
Western Athletic Conference. Jackson was one of just two Sun Belt players to be
included on the BCS Buster First Team (Troy defensive end Brandon Lang).
